How to play Klondike Solitaire
A single deck, seven columns, and four foundations. Play Klondike Solitaire with Draw 1 or Draw 3, hints, undo, and automatic completion when the board is ready.
- Build each foundation from Ace to King in the same suit.
- In the tableau, place cards in descending order with alternating red and black suits. Move a valid sequence together to uncover face-down cards.
- Only a King or a sequence starting with a King can fill an empty column. Use the stock to find more playable cards.
A tip for your next game
Prioritize moves that reveal hidden cards. Before emptying a column, look for a King you can move there; an empty space without a King will not help you uncover the rest of the deck.
Common questions
Can I choose where a card goes?
Yes. Switch Move mode to choose destination, then tap a card or stack and its destination. Automatic mode keeps the one-tap controls. A foundation card can move back to a legal tableau column.
What is the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?
Draw 1 turns over one stock card at a time. Draw 3 turns over up to three, but only the top waste card is available to play. Start with Draw 1 while learning the rules.
Can I return to an unfinished deal?
Yes. Your deal is saved in this browser. Use Continue on the game screen or the homepage resume link. Clearing browser data removes the save.
