How to play Archived Sudoku
Replay the classic 9×9 daily puzzle from a date in the Matte archive. Dates start September 8, 2026 and roll over at midnight UTC. The archive uses the existing daily generator, so a date keeps its original board.
- Choose a date from Daily Games & Archive. Future dates are unavailable.
- Fill each row, column and 3×3 box with 1 through 9 without repetition.
- Use the same notes, Undo and progressive logical hints as classic Sudoku.
- Progress saves separately for each archived date. Restart or replay gives the same dated board.
- Archive completion is recorded locally and does not add to the classic daily streak.
A tip for your next game
An archive is a useful place to revisit a technique without replacing your current classic save. A shared result link includes the original UTC date.
Common questions
Does archived play change my daily streak?
No. It has a separate local completion record. The original daily entry retains its own UTC streak rules.
Can I play tomorrow’s puzzle?
No. Only dates from the archive launch through today UTC are selectable.
Will my progress survive a date change?
Each archived date has its own browser save. Returning to its URL restores unfinished entries and notes unless browser data was cleared.
